Brenda has multiple academic and professional honors and awards, among them she is a Fellow of the American Institute of Architects (FAIA) and a Fellow of the American Institute of Certified Planners (FAICP), the first woman to hold both honors. She was a Loeb Fellow at the Harvard Graduate School of Design. 

Brenda is a member of the editorial board for Urban Morphology, and Urban Design International. As a volunteer, she serves on the Salt Lake City Planning Commission and is former chair of the Utah Women’s Forum. She is also on the board of Envision Utah and is the former board chair of the Girl Scouts of Utah.

Brenda Case Scheer, is professor emeritus at the University of Utah College of Architecture + Planning.  Brenda was dean of the college for 11 years, following a successful architecture practice and academic career. As a writer and researcher, Professor Scheer has more than 32 papers and book chapters, as well 3 books. Her two most important research areas are the theory of urban form and aesthetic regulation of the environment. Her most recent book is The Evolution of Urban Form: Typology for Planners and Architects. Follow me on Mastodon
